Rick Hayward (Frank) and Emily Devers (Mimi) are two independent Brisbane based visual artists. They often collaborate as Frank & Mimi, painting around Australia and across the globe. Frank & Mimi create large-scale artworks stimulating much needed dialogue around pertinent social and environmental issues, drawing on their experience in traditional sign painting and the fine arts.
The duo’s KAABOO mural is an abstract meditation on the effects of plastic pollution in our oceans and waterways. In a recent study,
83% of tap water tested around the world contained plastic fibres, suggesting that not only are we eating plastic via seafood but we're drinking it from taps, and even bottled water, too! 'Tides Could Turn' reflects on the opportunity each individual has to reduce their plastic consumption making a difference into the future.
